How does the Dutch tax refund calculator work?
The Dutch tax refund calculator lets you send all the details needed for an estimate in 4 steps. After you complete the form, our specialists review your tax situation and prepare a free estimate of your refund from Belastingdienst, the Dutch tax office, within 24 hours.
The calculator is free and does not obligate you to anything. After receiving the estimate, you decide whether you want us to handle your Dutch tax return.
What should you prepare before filling in the calculator?
To make the estimate as accurate as possible, prepare the following documents:
- Jaaropgave - the Dutch annual statement from your employer, showing your gross earnings (brutoloon) and tax withheld (loonheffing). If you do not have a jaaropgave, your last payslip (salarisstrook) is enough
- Dutch employer details - company names (uitzendbureau or direct employer) and the start and end dates of work for each employer
- Information about income in Poland - if you earned income in Poland or other EU countries in the same year
Which allowances does the Dutch tax refund calculator include?
The Dutch tax system includes allowances that many Polish workers do not use, and they can significantly increase the refund amount:
- Algemene heffingskorting - the basic tax credit available to every taxpayer in the Netherlands. Its amount depends on annual income
- Arbeidskorting - the employment tax credit, calculated automatically for employed people. Seasonal and temporary workers often do not have it fully reflected in the employer's settlement
- Inkomensafhankelijke combinatiekorting - a child-related tax credit for working parents with a child under 12
- Registration in the Netherlands - people permanently registered as residents may use additional deductions as tax residents
For which years can you calculate a Dutch tax refund?
A Dutch tax return can be filed up to 5 years back. This means that even if you worked in the Netherlands a few years ago and never filed a return, you may still recover overpaid tax. In the calculator you can select:
- Dutch tax refund calculator for 2025
- Dutch tax refund calculator for 2024
- Dutch tax refund calculator for 2023
- Dutch tax refund calculator for 2022
- Dutch tax refund calculator for 2021
What happens after you send the calculation?
After you submit the form, our team reviews the documents and prepares an estimate. If you decide to file the return with us, we handle the full process: preparing the declaration (aangifte inkomstenbelasting), submitting it electronically to Belastingdienst, and translating correspondence from the Dutch tax office. The usual waiting time for a refund from Belastingdienst is 3-6 months from filing the return.
The service is provided for a fixed fee, with no commission on the refund amount, so the full recovered tax goes to you. You can find details on the pricing page.
